The Albuquerque Theatre guild is an umbrella organization of live theatre companies, theater practitioners, and theater lovers dedicated to making the Albuquerque area's rich live-theatre scene better known to both residents and visitors alike. We are happy to act as your usher and guide to the wonderful wealth of entertainment possibilities that greater Albuquerque offers every weekend!
More theatrical performances take place every weekend here in Albuquerque than in any other U.S. city of its size. Live drama offerings range from musicals to dramas to comedies, Christian plays, children's theatre, improvisational cabaret, Shakespearean classics, American standards, and new work by emerging playwrights from a variety of backgrounds. Whatever your taste in entertainment, we are confident you'll find something on ATG's calendar that will send you away humming, or thinking, or laughing.
Over thirty theatre organizations and 150 individuals belong to the ATG. Our brochure, Albuquerque Spotlight on Live Theatre, published twice a year and available at our member theaters and many other locations around Albuquerque, introduces you to our member theatres and tells you of the productions they are planning in the coming months. Or you can click here to download a PDF version.

ATG Member Circles
Circles are groups within the ATG membership that share a common interest. These groups meet regularly to explore new ideas and organize new events to promote collaboration in their area of interest.ATG currently has the following membership circles:
Actors' Circle
The Actors' Circle is currently being organized and is open to all actors who are ATG Individual Members. If you would like to participate in the activities organized by the Actors' Circle contact Georgia Athearn at
Directors' Circle
The Directors' Circle is open to all who wish to learn or improve their
skills and opportunities as directors of live theatrical productions. The
group organizes events to help directors broaden their horizons by meeting
new people, sharing perspectives and experiences, and participating in
specific projects. For further information, contact
or see the Directors' Circle section of the Call Board.
Playwrights' Circle
The Playwrights' Circle consists of ATG members who create new works for the theatre and wish to have them read, critiqued, and presented to the public. The writers discuss scripts, organize staged readings, and work with directors and producers who share their passion for contemporary drama. For further information, contact Howie Kaibel at
or see the Playwrights' Circle section of the Call Board.
Tech Circle
The Tech Circle is ATG's newest membership circle. It is open to all who want to learn or share experiences related to the technical aspects of theatrical production, including lighting, sound, and set design, and set construction. For further information, contact Eli Browning at
or see the Tech Circle section of the Call Board.
Youth Theatre Circle
The Youth Theatre Circle comprises representatives from each of the twelve ATG member organizations that offer theatre-related programs for young people. The principal project of the Circle thus far has been the creation of a Youth Theatre Scholarship Program to provide tuition assistance to students who will enroll in their theatre-education programs in 2009-10. Winners of the scholarships will soon be announced on this website in the Youth Theatre Circle section of the Call Board.
