Call for Submissions to Explora Theater’s 2014 Short Science Play FestivalPlaywrights:
You are cordially invited to submit your work to the the inaugural Explora Theater Short Science Play Festival. We seek original, unpublished scripts to be produced for our in-museum theater in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the late fall 2014. The Explora Theater exists to promote the museumís mission of creating opportunities for inspirational discovery and the joy of lifelong learning through interactive experiences in science, technology and art.
Three categories are being accepted for review, with works by New Mexico authors being given priority consideration:
- Monologues featuring a notable inventor, engineer, scientist or artist, to serve as a biographical snapshot. These should be no more than 25 minutes in length, and should highlight some aspect of the contribution that the individual has made to his or her field.
- Short plays (approximately 10 minutes) that incorporate a science/technology/art concept aimed at a young audience. This can be a stand alone snippet of a longer piece--please provide context if this is the case.
- Short or One-Act plays that parody and/or demystify some aspect of science/technology/art, with no limitation on anticipated audience age range.
