Spread the Buzz about ATG!

The Albuquerque Theatre Guild’s Buzz Committee is charged with getting the word out to Albuquerque and the world about our vibrant live theatre scene. We coordinate the production and distribution of the twice-yearly brochure “Albuquerque Spotlight on Live Theatre.” We have a Facebook page and a Twitter page that we send info out on. We see to it that press releases and calendars about our member theatres’ shows go out regularly. We’re starting a new campaign to attract visitors, “Plan A Day to See A Play in Albuquerque” with funding from a grant from the NM Tourism Department which Buzz Committee members wrote. We speak to groups interested in learning about ATG.

This all takes a lot of work and we need reinforcements! If you’d like to get involved in helping the ATG promote live theatre in Albuquerque, we’d love to have you. Contact Buzz Committee Chair, Linda Lopez McAlister or 247-1909.

We need you!

To help with all aspects of East Mountain Centre for Theatre productions.

One Flea Spare Casting Call for RyBan Productions

Hilarious and deeply moving by turns, One Flea Spare is set in plague-ravaged 17th Century London where social roles and the boundaries that describe them have been into chaos. The definition of morality is up for grabs. History is being tantalised. And whilst the wealthy William Snelgrave dreams of sweating, swearing tars, and of how sailors satisfy their "baser instincts" so far away from female company, his own wife, untouched for 40 years, is discovering that her dreadfully burned body may not be numb after all. The human heart craves comfort, contact, tenderness; survival may take many forms. The sparse, yet poetic language of Naomi Wallace's One Flea Spare is layered in powerful sexual subtext. The action takes place in a single, boarded-up room in a once grand house where the wealthy gentleman, upper-class merchant William Snelgrave and his subdued wife, Darcy, wait out a month-long quarantine. Just before their captivity ends, the process begins anew when two unwanted visitors sneak in. They are Bunce, a rough-hewn seaman, and Morse, the 12 year-old who may or may not be the surviving daughter of a neighboring family. Stirring the pot from time to time is Kabe, a black market schemer, and one of the guards assigned to make sure no one breaks quarantine.

CAST:
William Snelgrave, a wealthy gentleman, upper-class merchant (50 - 60 years old)
Darcy Snelgrave, his wealthy subdued wife (45 - 55 years old)
Bunce, a rough-hewn seaman (25 - 30 years old)
Morse, a 12-year-old girl (12 - 15 years old)
Kabe, a black market schemer, and guard at the Snelgrave's door (25 - 45 years old)
