Youth Theatre Outreach
ATG Youth Theatre Outreach Information
ATG Youth Theatre Outreach comprises four initiatives designed to foster the theatre education of young performers and develop collaborations with high-school drama programs in the greater Albuquerque area.1. YOUTH THEATRE SCHOLARSHIPS
The purpose of this program is to help children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17 participate in theatre-education programs provided by ATG member organizations after school or during the summer. Each year since 2009, ATG has offered eligible students 10 tuition scholarships worth up to $100 each. Applications are due in the second week of April for scholarships tenable between June 1 and May 30 of the following year. For further information, please visit http://www.abqtheatre.org in the spring or e-mail .
2. HIGH SCHOOL PREVIEW NIGHTS
The purpose of this program is to broaden the theatre experience of students by arranging for them to attend preview performances of selected productions by ATG member organizations. Working with a Guild coordinator, drama teachers plan outings for their students to appropriate previews at little or no cost. Talk-backs between the students and the directors and casts of the plays take place after most performances. For further information, please e-mail Valerie Scott at .
3. HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE WORKSHOPS
The purpose of this program is to enhance the educational experience of drama students by supplementing the instruction offered in their school courses. ATG members volunteer to lead workshops on different aspects of theatre production. Then an ATG coordinator helps put them in touch with drama teachers who would like their students to know more about the subjects available through the workshops. For further information, please e-mail Paula Stein at .
4. ATG HIGH SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
Secondary-school theatre programs and Thespian Troupes may become organizational members of the Albuquerque Theatre Guild. Benefits of membership include posting privileges on the ATG website and Facebook page and advertising privileges in the ATG brochure, "Albuquerque Spotlight on Live Theatre." Dues are adjusted to levels appropriate to school programs. For further information, click on "Members" to the left and then on "Membership Information," or send e-mail to .
